Plate Tectonics

Discover Plate Tectonics in Virtual Reality

Take your pupils on an unforgettable journey beneath the Earth’s surface with our Plate Tectonics VR Workshop. Using immersive virtual reality, children explore how the Earth is made up of tectonic plates, and discover how their movement causes volcanoes, earthquakes and mountains.

This workshop brings challenging geography and science concepts to life through exploration, movement and visual learning.

What Is the Plate Tectonics VR Workshop?

The Plate Tectonics VR Workshop is an interactive, curriculum-linked experience designed for students. Wearing VR headsets, children are transported inside the Earth to:

🌍 See the layers of the Earth
🧩 Explore tectonic plates and how they move
πŸŒ‹ Experience how volcanoes form
🌊 Discover what causes earthquakes and tsunamis
πŸ”οΈ Learn how mountains are created

The session is fully guided, age-appropriate, and led by trained facilitators.

What Will Pupils Learn?

🌍 The Structure of the Earth

Explore the crust, mantle and core and learn how the Earth is layered.

🧩 Tectonic Plates

Discover how the Earth’s crust is broken into plates and how these plates move slowly over time.

πŸŒ‹ Volcanoes

Learn how volcanic eruptions occur and why volcanoes are found in certain parts of the world.

🌊 Earthquakes and Tsunamis

Understand what happens when plates collide, pull apart or slide past each other, and how this can cause earthquakes and tsunamis.

πŸ”οΈ Mountains and Landforms

See how the movement of plates can push land upwards to create mountains.
